Do you have any scholarships?

Qualified candidates may be supported through a regular Postgraduate Studentship (PGS) (HK$225,120, or approximately US$28,790 per year).

The prestigious Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) is described here. The fellowship provides an annual stipend of HK$337,200 (approximately US$43,230) and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$14,000 (approximately US$1,790) per year for each awardee for up to three years.
The RedBird PhD Recruitment Award offered by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is described here. It provides HK$40,000 (approximately US$5,130) and a first-year tuition-fee waiver.

What are your current research priority areas?

A non-exhaustive list of topics that we are currently interested in is as follows:

Uncertainty quantification for AI;
Natural-hazard risk assessment and forecasting, including storm surges, tropical cyclones, and precipitation;
The low-altitude economy, including micrometeorological and UAV modeling;
Computer-vision-based defect detection.

When should I submit my application?

We strongly encourage potential applicants to submit their applications as early as possible.

If you wish to be considered for HKPFS or RedBird, November 1 is a suitable early deadline that allows us time to prepare a nomination package.

How should I make the initial contact?

Please include the following information in your initial message:

A summary of the research topics that excite you.
Your initial ideas about the knowledge gaps you would like to address.
An overview of your academic background, including relevant grades, awards, and class rank.
A summary of prior research outputs, including publications where applicable.
